Purdue football coach Ryan Walters gears Boilermakers up for Oregon
Purdue football coach Ryan Walters prepares to face No. 2 ranked Oregon.
WEST LAFAYETTE – Purdue football will attempt to match up against No. 2 Oregon’s talented receivers without starting cornerback Nyland Green.
The Georgia transfer was listed as unavailable on the Boilermakers’ Big Ten-mandated pregame status report. He had started since missing the first three games due to a foot injury suffered during preseason camp.
The availability report also confirrmed quarterback Hudson Card’s continued absence. Ryan Browne, though, was already set to start regardless. The new bad news come more on the defensive side.
Purdue also now characterizes linebacker Winston Berglund’s injury status as being out for the season. He had played more when Kydran Jenkins began playing more rush end. Hudson Miller is among the players playing more in Berglund’s absence.
On the defensive line, Damarjhe Lewis is listed as unavailable and Mo Omonode is questionable.
However, the Boilermaker receiver group may get some reinforcements. CJ Smith, a Georgia transfer yet to play this season, is listed as questionable. He has been sidelined by a hamstring injury suffered in preseason camp.
Also, Jayden Dixon-Veal is active for the first time since Sept. 21 at Oregon State. He has totaled 23 yards on three receptions in two games.
Those additions are especially useful with receiver Kam Brown unavailable.
Also, tight end George Burhen is not listed on the availability report. Purdue coach Ryan Walters said recently Burhen was close to returning to the field.
