The Princess of Wales is set to make a new appearance next week, Buckingham Palace has announced.
Princess Kate will join Prince William next Tuesday, December 3, to greet The Amir of the State of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani, in London, on behalf of King Charles.
They will then travel with them to Horse Guards Parade, where The Amir and Sheikha Jawaher will receive a Ceremonial Welcome before being formally welcomed by the King and Queen at the Royal Pavilion.
Following the presentations, the Guard of Honour will give a Royal Salute and the Qatari National Anthem will be played. The monarch will accompany the Amir as he inspects the Guard of Honour, formed of the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards, with the Band of the Regiment.
Kate will then join her husband, the King and Queen, a well as the Amir and Sheikha Jawaher, in a carriage procession along The Mall to Buckingham Palace, where they will be met by a second Guard of Honour formed of 1st Battalion Welsh Guards with the Band of the Irish Guards, who will play the Qatari and British National Anthems.
The last time the Waleses held this important role was for the state visit of the South Korean President last November, as Kate was unable to attend the more recent state visit of the Emperor and Empress of Japan due to her cancer treatment.
The Qatari royals, who will arrive in Britain on Monday, December 2 and stay until Wednesday, December 4, will then enjoy lunch at Buckingham Palace before attending a special exhibition in the Picture Gallery of items from the Royal Collection Trust and Turquoise Mountain Foundation relating to Qatar.
In the afternoon, they will visit Westminster Abbey, where they will take a tour of the abbey, accompanied by the Dean of Westminster and the Chapter.
Their next stop will be the Palace of Westminster where he will be greeted on arrival by Black Rod, the Lord Great Chamberlain, the Speaker of the House of Commons and the Lord Speaker.
In the Royal Robing Room, the Amir will address gathered Parliamentarians and other invited guests before joining a reception with Members of the House of Lords and Members of Parliament.
He will then travel to Kensington Palace, where he will be received by Prince William.
According to the Palace, the day will conclude with a glittering State Banquet hosted by the King and Queen at Buckingham Palace.
While Kensington Palace has confirmed Kate, who completed her cancer treatment at the end of the summer, will attend some elements of next week’s state visit, she will not attend the state banquet on Tuesday evening.
It will be the last state banquet held at Buckingham Palace for three years, due to extensive refurbishment works at the royal property. Windsor Castle will host any future state visits until the £369million refurbishment works are complete.
On Wednesday, their final day in the UK, the Amir will visit the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and will also travel to Buckingham Palace to formally bid farewell to King Charles and Queen Camilla.
Afterwards, he will meet Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer at No. 10 Downing Street before attending a dinner, joined by The Duke of Gloucester, at Mansion House given by the Lord Mayor and City of London Corporation.
Next week marks a busy week in the royal calendar as on Friday, December 6, Kate will hold her annual Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey, where she is expected to be joined by her children and other members of the Royal Family.
