Kate Middleton is officially back to work. The Princess of Wales has made a major public return to royal duties in her first state visit since announcing her cancer diagnosis. Kate and husband Prince William welcomed Qatar’s emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and his wife Sheikha Jawaher to the UK on Dec. 3, greeting the couple at a private residence before they traveled together by car to meet King Charles at the Horse Guards Parade for a formal ceremony near Buckingham Palace. Queen Camilla was absent due to a chest infection, the palace confirmed. The Princess gave her father-in-law a curtsy upon arrival and looked as regal as ever in a burgundy coat and matching hat. Kate’s latest outing comes nearly three months after she announced she’d completed her preventive chemotherapy and was focused on remaining cancer free. The future queen consort went public with her illness in March but has kept details, including the type of cancer she had, private – a decision she said was for the sake of her and William’s three children and in the best interest of her recovery. Kate’s gradual return to the spotlight has included appearances at royal events including Trooping the Colour and Remembrance Day.
