We’ll have some good looking games this Sunday, but there will also be some awful uniform combos, and a good number of teams haven’t revealed what pants they’ll be combining with announced jerseys, leaving the potential for some new combos (as well as some really bad looks). The “big” uni game will have the Tampa Bay Bucs wearing their Bucco Bruce throwbacks, but that matchup may not be so great.
Let’s take a look at how the uniform matchups for Week 8 are playing out. This post will be updated once teams who have not announced full combos do so.
Right out of the gate, we get one of the worst uni matchups, with the Cardinals in their standard white helmet/red everything else against the all white Dolphins. This game is in Miami, though, so it’s a rare all-red game for Arizona on the road.
The Bucs will be wearing their glorious creamsicle throwbacks in this one, while the Falcons will be going black/white/black/white. The modern Falcons uni won’t mesh too well with the Bucs’ throwbacks, but it’s probably the best possible combo for Atlanta.
This is probably going to be a very good looking matchup! The Ravens will be in Black/White/Purple/White, and the Browns will be breaking out the orange pants to pair with their home brown jerseys — the “Kardiac Kids” look! The colors should all work well together, and it’ll have a very “fall” feel. Definitely looking forward to seeing this one on the field!
A week after going mono-white, the Packers will be back in their standard road uniforms for this matchup. The Jaguars will counter with their rarely worn black/teal/teal/white outfit. This probably won’t see the bad side of the Five and One, but it’s not likely to see the good side either.
This game is going to look almost as good as possible, with the Colts in their standard roads and blue socks. If only Houston would have selected navy socks, it would look better — but it’s not the worst possible look these two teams could feature.
Welp. A week after wearing their silver/gray pants with their white jerseys(!), the Pats will be back in mono-blue below the neck. The Jets will counter with green/white/green/green. Not particularly excited to seeing two teams in dark pants AND socks facing off.
UPDATE: According to Jets Twitter, the team will wear green/white/green/white.
The Eagles haven’t announced which pants they’ll pair with their green helmets and jerseys, but it’s almost certainly going to be all white below the waist. Of course, the Bengals are wearing their “White Bengal” look for the game, and have called for a white-out for the fans. I love the Bengals in all white, but not excited at the prospect of the Eagles going all-white pants/socks.
UPDATE: As expected the Eagles will be wearing white pants and socks.
Despite the apparent hideousness of this matchup (and indeed, it could look awful), this is one I really need to see on the field. But with three different shades of blue (navy and powder for Tennessee and Honolulu Blue for Detroit), I’m not getting my hopes up here. Plus, the Lions should never go monolulu blue. Maybe this one will surprise me, looks wise.
Buffalo has three combos I like: white/blue/white/blue, white/white/white/blue, and what they’re wearing this Sunday: white/white/blue/white. Seattle is back in their regular mono-navy homes. It won’t be the worst looking game this weekend, but I doubt it will sniff the 5 & 1.
New Orleans vs. Los Angeles Chargers
As of this writing, neither team has declared which pants they’ll be pairing with their jerseys. But with the Saints track record this year of never wearing their primary gold pants, I imagine they’ll be mono-white below the neck. Hopefully the Chargers will be in their gold pants, regardless of what the Saints wear.
UPDATE: The Saints will wear black pants and socks with their gold helmets and white jerseys.
This is another game where neither team has declared their pants choice. Will this be the week the Broncos go mono-orange below the neck? They’ll probably wear white pants and socks, but how great would it be if they actually wore white pants and orange socks? As for the Panthers, they have at least three pants possibilities, plus socks. Ideally, I’d love to see them in Process Blue pants and black socks. This *could* look good, but again, I’m not getting my hopes up.
UPDATE: The Panthers will wear their white pants and Process Blue socks for this one.
The Bears haven’t actually declared their pants yet, so the above graphic may not be what’s actually worn in this game, but I wouldn’t bet against it. If there was ever at time for da Bears to wear white pants with their white jerseys, this is it, but according to the GUD, they haven’t done that since 2009! With the Commanders confirmed in their BFBS uniforms, this won’t be a particularly colorful matchup.
The Chiefs haven’t yet declare whether they’ll wear white or red pants, but either way, this will be a fantastic looking game. In recent years, the Chiefs have gone with red pants as well as with white pants. I’d actually prefer them in white pants (my personal preference for their road look), but either set will be fine. It’s hard to see this not being the best uni matchup of the Weekend.
This could be another good looking game, with the 49ers wearing their red throwbacks against the Cowboys, who’ll be in their regular white uniforms. Of course, and even better looking game would have the 49ers in their regular home uniforms, which would be an all-time classic matchup. I’m normally a big fan of throwbacks, but the Niners are definitely one team whose regular uniforms are far superior.
And there you have it — a look at all the uni matchups for Week 8. The MNF game will feature the Giants in their red-heavy road uniforms against the Pittsburgh Steelers in their all-black Color Rush unis.
