ABOUT CHATTANOOGA GOLF 
 
First Look: The Chattanooga Mocs return to the tee this coming week at the Colleton River Collegiate. The solid, 15-team field takes on the Dye Course at Colleton River Club in Bluffton, S.C. It’s a 2-day, 54-hole event beginning on Sunday and ending Monday. This is a return trip for the program which finished as runner up in 2024.
 
Braedon Wear and Ethan Whitaker were exempt from qualifying after sharing medalist honors in leading the Mocs to a win at the Bentwater Intercollegiate the last time out. The trio of Camden Braidech, Garrett Engle and Dalton Chuba earned their way into the van for Colleton River, while Carson Johnson gets his shot as an individual.
 
First Thought: “It’s a great opportunity this week on a championship venue. Michigan State and the Colleton community put on an incredible event. We are excited to get down to the low country and compete.”

What to Know

• Coming off a winning sweep at Bentwater Intercollegiate, the second of the year with Ethan Whitaker (1st win) and Braedon Wear (2nd) sharing medalist honors.
• Two team and individual wins on the season in a title sweep at the Qubein Cup with Camden Braidech earning his first collegiate win. Braidech’s 3-under 207 was the only under par score in the field.
• Last time with three team wins in a season? 2022-23 (4). Last with three in a row? 2007-08: Furman Int., Bank of America Int., and SoCon Champ.
• Last time with medalists in three different tournaments?  2016-17 [Wes Gosselin (Mobile Sports Authority Int.), Brooks Thomas (USA Ind.) and Etienne Brault (Trevecca Inv.)].
• Last time with back-to-back sweeps? 2012 SoCon Championships & NCAA Bowling Green Regionals behind Stephan Jaeger ’12.
• The program has never had three sweeps in a season.
• 3rd season under Coach Blaine Woodruff, 33rd event. Program has eight team wins and seven medalists (in 6 events) over that stretch.
• Another win for Braidech, Wear or Whitaker would make them the first Moc since A.J. Lintunen in 2020-21 to win multiple times in a season.
