The scores continue to be low for the Lee High golf team and the trophy haul for the Generals continues to be high.
Head coach Barry Audia’s talented team won their fourth tournament in four tries this season with a victory in the inaugural Powell Valley National Bank Invitational on Wednesday at Lonesome Pine Country Club in Big Stone Gap, Virginia.
Lee’s score of 292 was 26 strokes ahead of runner-up Abingdon. Gate City (321), Daniel Boone (323) and Union (338) rounded out the top-five.
The latest triumph goes along with victories in the Farmers & Miners Invitational they hosted, the State Farm Golf Classic in Bristol and the Bank of Marion Invitational in Smyth County.
It’s really no surprise since the team is the defending VHSL Class 2 state champions.
Jacob Leonard led the way for Lee with a 71 as he finished third on the individual leaderboard.
