Bayer Leverkusen return to Bundesliga action against Wolfsburg today following a rampant 4-0 win over Feyenoord in the Champions League on Thursday evening.
Coming into this game, Xabi Alonso has a full-strength squad available and looking to keep up their momentum in the Bundesliga after last weekend’s 4-1 win against Hoffenheim, Die Werkself could well field the same lineup that started in Rotterdam.
But with an increased number of games with six between September 14 and October 5, expect Alonso to rotate this weekend, albeit minimally.
Nordi Mukiele, who joined on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, played four minutes against Hoffenheim last weekend but could start in place of Piero Hincapié, which would see Edmond Tapsoba switching to the left side of a back three.
In attack, Martin Terrier, who is already off the mark in the league, could be given a rest with Amine Adli starting ahead of the Frenchman. Victor Boniface, who has three goal contributions (two goals, one assist) in three Bundesliga games this season, should retain his place ahead of Patrik Schick.
Lukas Hradecky – Nordi Mukiele, Jonathan Tah, Edmond Tapsoba – Jeremie Frimpong, Granit Xhaka, Robert Andrich, Álex Grimaldo – Amine Adli, Florian Wirtz – Victor Boniface
