With the NFL combine quickly approaching, Kyle Crabbs of the 33rd Football Team put together a two-round 2025 NFL mock draft recently. So, who did the Jacksonville Jaguars come away with?
Crabbs has a potential top pick in this year’s draft landing with the Jaguars, who focus on the defensive side of the ball with their first two selections.
Let’s break both of those picks down:
Pick 5: Travis Hunter, CB/WR, Colorado
Hunter is going to work out at the NFL combine as a defensive back and would immediately bolster the Jaguars’ pass defense opposite of Tyson Campbell, which is greatly needed.
Last season, the Jaguars’ secondary ranked 24th in completion rate and they were bottom-three in passer rating, interceptions, and yards per pass attempt allowed.
In coverage in 2024, Hunter allowed a completion rate of just 56% at 9.7 yards per catch with four interceptions and seven pass breakups.
The Jaguars also have the flexibility to carve out a role for him on offense if they desire in certain packages to get Hunter the ball in his hands. Hunter caught 96 passes last season at 13.1 yards per catch with 15 touchdowns.
Pick 36: Tyleik Williams, IDL, Ohio State
Crabbs has the Jaguars sticking with the defensive side of the ball and bolstering their interior defensive line.
According to ESPN’s win rate metrics, the Jaguars defensive front as a unit last season ranked 32nd in pass rush win rate and 27th in run stop rate.
Williams is listed at 6-3 -327 pounds. Over the last two seasons, Williams has 43 combined pressures and five sacks, with his greatest impact coming in the run game.
Among all interior defenders last season, Williams ranked eighth in PFF’s run defense grade. With a presence like Williams in the middle, the defenders around him often benefit with the attention a player of his caliber can draw and the space he occupies.
