The Bentham and District Dementia Friendly Community Breakfast Club has been meeting every other Thursday at Bentham Fire Station for two hours in the morning since October 2021.
What began as a cup of tea or coffee, a biscuit and a chat, grew with everyone enjoying a cooked breakfast sandwich, biscuits, cakes and drinks. There is also games, arts and crafts, music and parties for special events such as the King’s coronation and at Christmas.
The group also goes out on trips including to the Embsay steam railway, a trip to Carnforth and a barge trip on the Leeds and Liverpool canal.
Jonathan Scott, practice manager, Bentham Medical Practice, said: “Unfortunately, the fire service can no longer provide us with use of the station but the good news is that from March 13 we will be re-locating to Bentham golf club. Same format and times, from 10am to midday.
“I would just like to say a massive thank you to Craig Lyons, Lisa and everyone at the fire station for their support and efforts. We could not have managed without them.”
