CMPD shut down an illegal gambling operation at a convenience store in west Charlotte.
From Aug. 1 to Dec. 1 of 2024, police said they received 44 calls for service at the Magic 777 Mart on Hoskins Road.
Police said they warned the business about the illegal nature of the machines and that they failed to comply.
As such, CMPD’s ABC unit executed a search warrant at the business on Feb. 28.
In the search, police seized four illegal gaming machines, a payment redemption kiosk, an online gambling kiosk and approximately $13,000.
Two individuals were using the machines at the time and were charged with misdemeanors, CMPD said.
The CMPD’s ABC Unit’s investigation into the business is still ongoing. Anyone with information on the illegal gambling operations is asked to contact CMPD’s ABC Unit or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
