Long Islanders are getting even more options to hit the gym and stay fit, with Planet Fitness continuing its expansion across the region.

Last Friday, Sept. 13, the fitness giant opened its newest location in Shirley’s South Port Shopping Mall, marking the second Planet Fitness to open on Long Island this summer. This follows the Aug. 27 launch of a facility in Plainview at 40 Manetto Hill Mall.

The new Shirley location, at 999 Montauk Highway, will hold a grand opening celebration on Oct. 2 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., featuring giveaways and promotions, a company spokesperson told Greater Long Island.

Currently, the Shirley club is offering a special promotion of $5 off per month on its Black Card membership, which includes access to all Planet Fitness locations, the ability to bring a guest, and other perks. This offer ends on Sept. 22.

Planet Fitness, famous for its “Judgement Free Zone” slogan, has nearby locations in Patchogue, Medford, Rocky Point, and Riverhead. Long Island is home to more than 20 of the brand’s locations across Nassau and Suffolk counties.

Globally, the chain operates over 2,600 locations across the United States, Mexico, Canada, Australia, and Panama.
