The NBA Cup, previously called the in-season tournament, has arrived with the Detroit Pistons hosting the Miami Heat on Tuesday in the first of four group play games.
The Pistons lost in Miami on Oct. 28 in the fourth game of the season, 106-98, despite 24 points from Cade Cunningham. They lost the fourth quarter that night, 28-19, while shooting 27.3%, held without a field goal to start the quarter for nearly five minutes.
A win would go a long way in the Pistons’ quest to advance out of group play and make the NBA Cup quarterfinals. They play in Toronto on Friday in the second game, then don’t play an NBA Cup again until Nov. 29 at Indiana, and Dec. 3 vs. Milwaukee.
