OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WLOX) – Small business owners across South Mississippi are encouraging you to “shop local” this holiday season.
Stores are offering holiday deals on November 22 as part of “Pink Friday”.
President & CEO of the Ocean Springs Chamber-Main Street, Cynthia Sutton considers it a pre-Black Friday event that puts a spotlight on small businesses.
“When you shop small businesses, you support local friends and neighbors, and when you shop local, you are keeping much of your dollars local,” said Sutton.
“Studies have shown that when you spend $100 nearly $68 stay local.”
In Ocean Springs, nearly 30 local businesses are taking part in ‘Pink Friday.’
In Diamondhead, five shops are also participating.
