It would’ve been a different story if Nick Kyrgios bagged the Wimbledon title in 2022. No one imagined that the Aussie ‘Super Brat’ had what it took to reach such a prestigious level. Nonetheless, he proved naysayers wrong, even if he fell short of his conquest at the All-England Club against Novak Djokovic. His victory could’ve changed media houses, critics, and insiders’ narratives on him. And when Kyrgios verified this possibility, a high-profile journalist from Britain agreed.
The Australian superstar has been majorly sidelined from the sport since his incredible campaigns in 2022. A plethora of injuries disabled his competitive appearances, but he is all set to return. Extensive rehabilitation to successfully remedy physical restraints prompted Kyrgios to announce that will return for the 2025 calendar, with his first stop at Brisbane International. “I am feeling fit and healthy, and I am excited for my return to tennis. It has been a long journey of recovery to be where I am today,” Kyrgios told Melbourne television.
While fans await his comeback, the Aussie, in the meantime, is keeping up with his talk show commitments. His show ‘Hana Kuma’, in collaboration with Japanese Naomi Osaka, has gained notable traction this year, and now, it finally got a chance to host Englishman Piers Morgan. From one controversial personality to another, Kyrgios was naturally intrigued to ask the acclaimed broadcaster about the change in media and public perception of the Aussie had the results of Wimbledon 2022 come his way. And his response surprised Kyrgios.

He said, “Honestly, it would’ve all turned on a dime because you would’ve turned it around. If you actually had won all that angst, fury, and passion that was whirling inside you because you were so desperate to win, in that moment of victory, you’d have become this guy…You would’ve been ‘Mr. Charming Nick’ and you would have charmed everybody everyone would’ve cheered you.”
For those unaware, multiple media outlets lamented Kyrgios’ shock entry to the SW19 summit clash, remarking that the same was a ‘disgrace’ to tennis, especially when it happens at the sport’s most prestigious event.

Though the Aussie succumbed to Djokovic in four sets, the former didn’t lose his self-assurance. Kyrgios still believes he is better than Nole, and the Big 3 in a certain aspect.
Let’s not forget that Australian star Nick Kyrgios is one of the few talented players to beat all three members of the Big 3, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal, in their first-ever clash on the Tour. While not many enjoy such a remarkable feat, the Aussie claims that he is better than the trio when it comes to ‘tennis IQ’.

The 29-year-old in an interview with the ‘Let’s Trot’ podcast supported his claim by highlighting how he finished runner-up at Wimbledon without a coach. Notably, Kyrgios hasn’t had a coach for six years. “I’ve played against Djokovic, Federer, Nadal and Murray. I have a higher tennis IQ than them. I don’t know if anyone in the history of tennis has reached the Wimbledon final without a coach. So, as far as IQ is concerned, I would choose myself.”
Nick Kyrgios made a triumphant return to tennis at the US Open Mixed Madness 2024 charity event on Tuesday. This marked his first competitive match since his injury in Stuttgart last June. He is set to compete in the World Tennis League later this month, followed by the Brisbane International and the Australian Open. Best believe that fans are excited about Kyrgios’ highly awaited return to the circuit.
