The PGA Tour’s Player Advisory Council will have some familiar (and some fresh) faces on it for the 2025 season.
The Tour announced the 16 players who will make up the PAC on Tuesday. The list, which draws from pros in different sections of the previous year’s FedEx Cup standings, includes some top-level players who are returning for another season on the PAC as well as four first-timers. The PAC advises the PGA Tour Policy Board and commissioner Jay Monahan on issues affecting the Tour. Last year, the PAC made several recommendations that included optimizing field sizes, adjusting the allocation of FedEx Cup points, and altering the eligibility system for the PGA Tour.
Here are the golfers on this year’s PAC:
Cone, Cole, McGreavy, and Woodland are serving on the PAC for the first time in their careers. Scheffler, Thomas, Burns, Homa, Harman, Power, McNealy, and Mitchell return from last year’s PAC.
Nick Hardy, Mackenzie Hughes, Lanto Griffin, Adam Schenk, Nick Taylor, Kevin Streelman, Josh Teater, and Camilo Villegas did not return after serving on it last year. Villegas is now a player director on the policy board.
The PAC will elect a chairman at a later date.
The news comes on the same day that Thomas sent a letter to fellow players asking them to be more open to helping the media by giving more access and insight. That includes mid-round interviews, being mic’d up for a round, etc.
“The more I’ve watched documentaries and specials on streaming services on other sports, the more I’ve come to realize the main reason I love them so much is the access they provide and the insight the players are giving me; a fan of them and their craft,” Thomas wrote. “I had no interest in rooting for certain players, teams, coaches before watching a handful of shows and games. But the way some of them show their cards and how they go about everything makes me an even bigger fan.
“I’m sure many of us feel the telecasts can be better so let’s help them do that.”
Thomas has previously been opposed to being mic’d up during a round but has changed his tune on that. He wore an earpiece during the second round of the 2023 Masters and has done walk-and-talks on course during the Hero World Challenge and Sentry in recent months.
After being elected to the PAC for the second straight year, Thomas will have another opportunity to help shape how the Tour looks in the future.
