Pensacola’s Missy Gannon wins European Disc Golf Festival tournament in Estonia
Missy Gannon’s disc golf career has been going pretty well since moving to Pensacola last summer.
In March of this year, Gannon, known as “Big Money Missy” for her putting prowess under pressure, won her first Professional Disc Golf Association major tournament when she captured the United States Women’s Disc Golf in March of this year.
She followed that up with a PDGA win at the Dynamic Discs Open in May, and on Sunday, she won the European Disc Golf Festival tournament in Estonia. A week earlier, Gannon had finished third in another major championship, the European Open in Finland. Fellow Pensacolians Paige Pierce, five-time PDGA World Champion, and Madison Walker, finished seventh and 18th in the European Open.
In June, Pierce won the Portland Open, her first professional victory since suffering an ankle injury in Norway while practicing for the 2023 European Open. Pierce won the European Open in 2022 and moved to Pensacola over a year ago.
“Missy and her husband Tom have come to a number of putting leagues and even came to Emerald Coast Sunday Funday,” said Mike Osley, retail manager of the Flight Factory disc golf store in Pensacola, referring to a weekly putting league at Waterboyz on Ninth Avenue and regular Sunday rounds hosted by the Emerald Coast Disc Golf Club. “Missy is super sweet and approachable. Always smiling and laughing and is fun to be around. Great ambassador of our sport and she is really playing great as of the last few seasons.”
