A male pedestrian was hit and killed in the lot directly in front of Staples along the 1800 block of East Ridge Pike in Upper Providence Township, police confirmed Wednesday afternoon.
The scene was still active as of 3 p.m. at The Court of Upper Providence shopping center.
Upper Providence Police, Limerick Fire Co. and associated Fire Police, and Upper Providence Township Fire and Fire Police were dispatched at 12:13 p.m. for a reported vehicle accident with rescue, according to Montgomery County emergency radio operations.
Authorities reported a man was trapped under the vehicle and not breathing.
Freedom Valley Medical Rescue personnel reported the victim as “Class 5” (deceased) to county emergency dispatch.
The striking vehicle is reported to be a Chevrolet Trailblazer.
Upper Providence Township Police is expected to issue an update Wednesday night.
