The tennis tournaments at the Paris Olympics continue with eight women’s doubles matches on Sunday. The quest for Gold features some of the top players in the sport. As always, we here at LastWordOnTennis will predict all matches for you. Predicting these matches are Yesh Ginsburg and Jordan Reynolds. Who do you think will move on to Round 2?
We will link to our other Olympic predictions at the bottom of the article. Enjoy!

Plenty don’t remember Vesnina’s doubles prowess. If the Russian can recapture her magic she could lead this team to an upset. But the Czechs are playing so well right now, it’s hard to see it.
Prediction: Muchova and Noskova in 2
Jordan
Vesnina has been a great doubles player throughout her career. However, I like the Czech pair’s chances of progressing. Both players have games that translate well to doubles, especially Muchova with her variety.
Prediction: Noskova/Muchova in 2

Andreeva is taking the singles tour by storm. What can she do in doubles? Honestly, against two players with the experience and all-court game that these Aussies have? Probably not much.
Prediction: Gadecki and Tomljanovic in 2
Jordan
This may be one of the tightest doubles matches of the opening round. Andreeva and Shnaider are inexperienced in doubles, but I give them a minor edge in this matchup. In truth though, neither pair is likely to win a medal, especially with so many formidable pairs in the draw.
Prediction: Andreeva/Shnaider in 10-point tiebreak

The Taiwanese pair will probably be outclassed here, but even competing at the Olympics is an opportunity that many cherish. The Romanians may be past their primes, but they should still move on.
Prediction: Begu and Niculescu in 2
Jordan
Hsieh is the outstanding player in this contest. She has nine Grand Slam doubles titles to her name across women’s and mixed doubles. Begu and Niculescu are both decent doubles players, but the quality of Hsieh is capable of carrying Tsao to victory.
Prediction: Hsieh/Tsao in 2

Collins is making the most of her final season, and all she needs is to add an impressive Olympic run. She has a good partner for it, too. The next round could get dicey, but this won’t end after just one match.
Prediction: Collins and Krawczyk in 2
Jordan
Collins and Sakkari probably cancel each other out in terms of their effectiveness on the doubles court. The difference in this matchup is likely to be Krawczyk being an established and accomplished doubles player, while Papamichail is not in that class. I expect the American pair to win this in straights.
Prediction: Collins/Krawczyk in 2
