Keep calm, Lorenzo Musetti! The tennis arena is buzzing with anticipation and excitement as the Olympic games reach their thrilling climax. The tension is palpable, and the air is electric with the promise of unforgettable matches. But with the stakes so high, emotions are running wild—frustration, anger, and agony are as much a part of the game as the cheers and applause. For Lorenzo Musetti, this emotional rollercoaster is all too familiar.
The Italian tennis dynamo is on a sensational run this season and his performance at the Paris Olympics is equally phenomenal. But despite winning all the matches in straight sets so far, Musetti is finding it difficult to solve the riddle that Novak Djokovic is posing in front of him and the frustration is evident.
After losing the first set of the semi-final clash 6-4, the Italian player was seen smashing his racquet in frustration. He broke his racquet ahead of the second set, in one of the most surprising gestures that anyone could have expected from him. And the agitation is understandable as well.

Musetti had leveled the first set 4-4. But despite playing significantly, he failed to keep up the momentum and eventually lost the set. Nole, on the other hand, was on the verge of losing his lead of 5-4, but he represented his vintage self and bounced back to win the set. Musetti has meanwhile received a warning from the umpire for breaching the tennis code of conduct. This gesture has sparked a reminiscence of some familiar scenes that took place last year when the two players met at the Monte Carlo Open. It’s just that the Italian is on the receiving end this time.

Djokovic was booed by the Monte Carlo Masters crowd as he argued a ball mark with the chair umpire during his third-round match in 2023. Playing against Musetii, the Serbian Maestro later smashed his racket eventually receiving a racquet abuse warning. Coming back to the ongoing match, the result has come out to be in Nole’s favor in the rematch of the Wimbledon semifinals as the Serb has cruised through the finals after winning the match 6-4, 6-2.

Djokovic has lost two grand slam finals against the dynamic player, Alcaraz, although they were on grass. With their head-to-head-tally at 3-3, the match is set to be a thriller. While Djokovic will surely better his record this Olympics, (he so far had a bronze at the Olympics, but now he will win either Gold or Silver) winning the Gold is a difficult task to achieve. Alcaraz, on the other hand, is fresh off his consecutive grand slam wins and has a better shot to take also because of the injury that Nole faced in the quarterfinals.
As the tournament unfolds, the result will be released to the audience. But what remains certain is a thrilling encounter between the legendary players.
