World No 1 Jannik Sinner is set to be the top seed on his Olympic Games debut, with the Italian among the key headliners of the men’s singles draw.
Three years ago, Sinner did not compete at the delayed Tokyo Games though heads into Paris as one of the strong favourites for the gold medal.
The 22-year-old reached the semi-final at Roland Garros in June, a run that cemented his rise to the No 1 ranking – and also won his first major at the Australian Open.
Hot on his heels is world No 2 Novak Djokovic, who is likely making his last Olympic Games appearance, and will be searching for the gold medal that has so far eluded him.
Djokovic won singles bronze at Beijing 2008 though an Olympic title is the one prize that has eluded the tennis icon throughout his career.
The favourite for the gold, however, is world No 3 and projected third seed Carlos Alcaraz.
Much like Sinner, Alcaraz is making his Olympic Games debut and comes in fresh off titles at the French Open and Wimbledon, making him the form player on tour.
Rounding out the top four seeds is the reigning Olympic champion Alexander Zverev who will also undoubtedly be a contender, with Sinner and Alcaraz the only two players ahead of him in the ATP race.
World No 5 Daniil Medvedev, who will compete as an authorised neutral athlete, is projected to be the fifth seed.
Behind him, there could still be some changes in the days leading up to action starting on the 27th July.
World No 6 Alex de Minaur is set to be the sixth and seventh seeds respectively, though he is an injury doubt – and world No 7 Hubert Hurkacz has now withdrawn.
Currently, world No 8 Casper Ruud – twice a runner-up at Roland Garros – is projected to be seeded seventh, with world No 9 Andrey Rublev not entered.
With world No 10 Grigor Dimitrov also not competing, Taylor Fritz is set to be seeded eighth, with Stefanos Tsitsipas and Tommy Paul currently rounding out the top 10 seeds.
Elsewhere, French No 1 Ugo Humbert is set to lead the home charge as the 11th seed, with recent Wimbledon semi-finalist Lorenzo Musetti as the 13th seed.
With Hurkacz now out, world No 20 and Hamburg champion Arthur Fils is also now set to be seeded at his home Olympics.
