2024 Venice High School Parade Honoring Football and Wrestling State Champions
VENICE — It’s become a familiar site.
An almost all-green parade in the heart of downtown Venice as the 2024 Venice High School football team, marching band, coaches, and cheerleaders, rolled down Venice Avenue Saturday afternoon, Feb. 15, 2025. Venice has now won four FHSAA State Championship titles in 2000, 2017, 2021, and celebrated a 52-19 win over Lake Mary High School in mid-December at Pitbull Stadium on the campus of Florida International University in Miami.
Venice coach John Peacock said, “It really comes down to these guys right here and what the work they put in. They did a great job all year, we had a unbelievable schedule that they showed up every Friday night to compete. They did it with class, they were great sportsmen, win, lose, draw or whatever it may be. They showed excellences on and off the field. So proud of you guys, I told you it would be tough, I told you it would be worth it, it’s all worth it now, they’re going to go down in history, we had a lot of great players, just thank you guys, thank the community and thank you guys for all the support you’ve given us throughout the season, it’s been wonderful. It’s a great Friday night when you walk out there and the stadium is full and you got a lot of support, that’s unbelievable, we live in a great community that does that, and so thankful for that, so very, very, thankful.”
Along with the football team, 18-year-old female wrestler Milana Borrelli was celebrated in the parade for her 2023 and 2024 state titles at 120 pounds.
