Palm Beach Gardens police say they are investigating a death at Sandhill Crane Golf Club.

According to a police spokesperson, the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department responded to the golf course at around 1:22 p.m. and located two men who had been involved in an altercation.

One man was pronounced dead on the scene, the other was taken into custody.

The medical examiner on the scene told WPTV’s Todd Wilson one man was hit with a golf club during the incident.

Police say the other man took off running and eventually jumped into a pond. He was tased and taken to a local hospital.

The assistant medical director of Palm Beach County told WPTV that when they arrived, one man was in cardiac arrest and the other was delirious.

The incident happened over several holes.

We spoke with a woman who came to use the course, not expecting to see police.

“It’s shocking, It’s a beautiful day and it’s a great place to come. I’m just totally shocked, really. I’m sorry to hear this whole thing,” she said.

The course remains closed Monday evening as the investigation continues.
