This weekend will mark the largest disc golf event at Ox Bow County Park since the 1996 world championships. And participants will see redesigned holes and other improvements to the 35-year-old course at 23033 County Road 45, halfway between downtown Elkhart and Goshen.
The trio of tournaments are all new at Ox Bow, and are open to any skill levels, gender and age.
Friday, Aug. 16: The Summer Sizzler, a PDGA C-Tier one-round competition, will allow individuals to start anytime from 3 to 8 p.m.
Saturday, Aug. 17: The Ox Bow Classic, which is a PDGA C/B Tier two-round singles event, will have rounds of individual play at 9 a.m. and after lunch.
Sunday, Aug. 18: The Dog Days Doubles, which is a PDGA C-Tier doubles event; games start at 2 p.m. with teams of two claiming the best of two throws.
Cost to compete for Professional Disc Golf Association members is $20 per person Friday, $40 per person Saturday and $40 per team on Sunday. Add $10 for nonmembers. Find more details and registration for each tournament via www.discgolfscene.com.
