Tiger Woods‘s career achievements are as legendary as his consistent performance in the pro circuit. His domination on the course still gives some of the best pros nightmares. His rivalries with other legends like Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els, and Rory McIlroy are still often talked about in the world of golf.
However, when it comes to PGA Tour events, Tiger Woods has nearly won every trophy he has participated him. Apart from the Genesis Open which has always eluded him, Woods has done it all and everywhere. Some of his best performances can be witnessed at Torrey Pines, Firestone Country Club, and the Augusta National Golf Club. The last venue is where he has achieved 5 Masters wins, second to only Jack Nicklaus who has captured the title 6 times.
But that’s not the only place where Tiger Woods is lacking behind Jack Nicklaus when it comes to the Augusta. There is one title earned by Jack Nicklaus at the home of the Masters Tournament that Tiger Woods has yet to be honored with.

The final round of the 2019 Masters Tournament was magical. With a three-way T2 finish, the likes of Xander Schauffele, Dustin Johnson, and Brooks Koepka were at the neck of Tiger Woods’s position having played only 1 stroke more than the eventual winner. Woods lifted the Masters Tournament title and was honored with the Green Jacket for the 5th time in his career. But that was not enough for him to enter a list of elite golfers.
An elite list that includes Jack Nicklaus who is a member of the Augusta National. The prestigious membership has been awarded to about 300 individuals so far. Jack Nicklaus was awarded the membership back in 2000, just one year after 4X Masters champion, Arnold Palmer received it in 1999. Sandwiched between the two greats when it comes to Masters titles, Tiger Woods has still not received his membership card to the elite club.
In a recent video posted on The Joe Pomp Show on YouTube, Joe Pompliano shared some interesting details about the Augusta National membership. He stated that an individual’s stature, wealth, or power does not determine if he deserves the Augusta National membership. He went on to add, “You might be one of the best golfers in the world. But that also doesn’t guarantee you access to the historic course. Even a Masters champion like Tiger Woods has only been given honorary status.”

Joe clarified that Masters champions can play at the Augusta National whenever they want to do so. They are also allowed to invite their friends to play on the course along with them. But Joe compared how those with a membership are treated as compared to those who don’t have one. He said, “But guys like Tiger (Woods) and Scottie Scheffler still need to pick up their guests at the front gate and their foursome has to include a current member of the club,” as he discussed the restrictions for the non-members.
Even after you become a member of the Augusta Nationals, you still have to abide by the rules of the club. The rules range from dress codes and on-course behavior like members are not allowed to wear their hats backward, not permitted to wear shorts ever, and you can’t tip anyone on the property besides the caddies. These were just some of the rules mentioned by the YouTuber. Jack Nicklaus indeed has to follow these rules at all times, but they don’t apply to Tiger Woods.

Still, a membership of the Augusta National must be on Wood’s checklist. Especially considering the fact that Jack Nicklaus has achieved it in the past. This further adds to the debate of who is the real G.O.A.T. in favor of Jack Nicklaus. While both the legends have left a lasting mark on the sport, we are sure Tiger Woods must be eager to add to the argument by receiving an Augusta Nationals membership of his own.
