OU football assistant GM Chuck Lillie to leave for West Virginia GM job

NORMAN — OU football’s staff is taking another blow.

The Sooners‘ assistant general manager, Chuck Lillie, is leaving to become West Virginia’s general manager, according to a Friday report from 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz.

Lillie’s role consisted of roster building, organization, player evaluations, the transfer portal and NIL. Lillie will join former OU co-defensive coordinator Zac Alley in Morgantown, West Virginia.

OU announced a new football recruiting structure in July, which included Lillie, general manager Curtis Lofton and a partnership with former Philadelphia Eagles Vice President of Football Administration Jake Rosenberg.

Oklahoma also announced a partnership with former AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson in December, rounding out “a more expansive general manager function,” OU athletic director Joe Castiglione said. Stephenson is serving as executive adviser to OU President Joseph Harroz Jr. and Castiglione without a salary.

Lillie arrived with the Sooners after serving as a scouting analyst at Kansas State from 2020-23. Prior to his tenure with the Wildcats, he had stints with the New York Giants scouting department and Clemson’s recruiting staff.

OU finished with a 6-7 record and a loss to Navy in the Armed Forces Bowl in 2024.

Already in the midst of a defensive coordinator search, now OU will need to restructure its front office.
