Herb Oster will leave his position as executive director of the Florida Thoroughbred Horsemen at the end of February to concentrate on recent health issues.
Oster has been a prominent figure in the racing industry in both New York and Florida for over 25 years and has served as executive director of the Horsemen since January 2024.
The FTH was in the news recently as it initially offered its support for proposed legislation to decouple racing and slot-machine licenses in Florida before it was pressured into opposing it.
Oster’s great passion lies in the benevolence side of the business, and he has initiated numerous programs aimed at improving the lives of the backstretch communities at Gulfstream Park and Palm Meadows Training Center. His efforts have made significant positive impacts on these communities, enhancing the lives of many individuals.
The FTH will establish a search committee to find a suitable replacement for Oster.
