Oregon was hoping to keep this one, but no dice.
Defensive nose tackle Jamaree Caldwell has decided to enter the 2025 NFL draft and will forego his one extra year of eligibility. Since he was a former junior college player, Caldwell had received one more year of eligibility, but the 6-foot-1, 340-pounder from Newberry, SC has decided not to use that one extra season and take his chances at the next level.
Caldwell had a career season in 2024 as he had 29 tackles, 4.5 for loss, three pass breakups and a forced fumble. He has accepted an invite to the Senior Bowl.
For much of the 2024 season, the nose tackle position was shared by Caldwell and Derrick Harmon. But now with Caldwell leaving, that spot is completely up for grabs in 2025. Harmon also announced he is departing for the NFL draft as he is expected to be a first-round choice.
Oregon did bring in Bear Alexander from USC in the transfer portal and has a bevy of young players at the position going forward.
