A hometown favorite entered Round 2 of the 2024 Paris Olympics women’s golf tournament atop the leaderboard. Celine Boutier of France carded a 7-under 65 in Round 1 and had a 3-shot lead on the rest of the field heading into Thursday’s tee times. But Morgane Metraux of Switzerland has made a charge to move into first place since the second round began.
The Wednesday crowds at Le Golf National outside Paris, particularly Boutier’s gallery, left golfers gushing about the atmosphere afterwards. Americans Nelly Korda, Lilia Vu and Rose Zhang are all lurking in contention heading into Round 2. It’s shaping up to be a memorable event, on the heels of an exciting men’s tournament that saw Scottie Scheffler make a final round charge to win a gold medal.
