Ohio State football receives most NFL combine invites of any school

Ohio State football just completed the most impressive championship run in college football history and it makes sense that the NFL would like to take a deeper look at some of the studs leaving Columbus, Ohio. The Buckeyes will send 15 players to the NFL combine, which takes place every year in Indianapolis, and that number is even more impressive, taking into consideration only 329 players received invites. Otherwise known as the underwear Olympics, the NFL combine provides an opportunity for potential draft picks to show off their talents athletically in a measurable way.

The 15 players are the most from one school and the list of OSU invites is full of all the familiar names with seven being from the offensive side of the football and eight coming from the defense, including the entire starting defensive line. Three offensive linemen were invited including Donovan Jackson, Seth McLaughlin, and potential first-rounder, Josh Simmons. The dynamic duo at running back was invited which includes TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins. Emeka Egbuka is the sole Ohio State receiver invited and Will Howard is the lone Buckeye quarterback.

As mentioned above, everyone on the defensive line was invited including edge defenders, Jack Sawyer and J.T. Tuimoloau and defensive tackles, Ty Hamilton and Tyliek Williams. Denzel Burke, Jordan Hancock and Lathan Ransom will be representing the defensive backfield and Cody Simon is riding solo at linebacker.

It is a bit surprising to see both Josh Fryar and Gee Scott Jr. missing from the invite list, but perhaps they can impress enough at the Ohio State Pro Day to hear their names called on draft day. The combine will be held from February 24 through March 3 and will be televised on the NFL Network. It should come to no one’s surprise that the Georgia Bulldogs were a close second with 14 invites.
