The transfer window in France may have already closed, however, Olympique de Marseille are now finally managing to clear their “loft”. Whilst Chancel Mbemba looks prepared to stay at OM, despite being informed that he is out of the first-team picture, Jordan Veretout looks set to depart. He is on the verge of completing a permanent move to arch-rivals Olympique Lyonnais.
One player is now confirmed to have left: Azzedine Ounahi. Signed off the back of his impressive World Cup performances with Morocco in Qatar, the midfielder has never lived up to expectations since joining from SCO Angers in 2023. He was one of many players that was cut adrift from the first-team set-up when Roberto De Zerbi arrived at the club in the summer.
Ounahi has since been looking for a new club. Having been linked intensely with a move to the Middle East, he does eventually remain in Europe, signing for Greek side Panathinaïkos, who recently beat RC Lens to book their place in the UEFA Europa Conference League. He joins Panathinaïkos on a loan deal, with a buy option.
