Oaklawn has canceled racing for Saturday.
Oaklawn announced the cancellation Friday afternoon via text message and news release. The ten-race Saturday card consisted of races that were originally scheduled to run Friday, but were pushed out a day Tuesday due to anticipated winter weather. The feature was the ninth, a first-level allowance in which graded-stakes-placed Lat Long was the morning-line favorite for Kenny McPeek.
According to the National Weather Service weather is expected to be sunny with a high near 46 on Saturday, though wind chill values could be near 20 early in the day. Forecasters predict a low around 26 on Saturday night with calm winds, and a high near 55 on Sunday.
A card with five stakes including the Rebel Stakes (G2), Honeybee Stakes (G3) and Razorback Handicap (G3) had originally been scheduled for Saturday, was pushed to Sunday. Oaklawn plans to conduct this card as planned, with first post at 1 p.m. EST. First post for Monday’s card, which Oaklawn also expects to run as planned, is at 1:30 p.m. EST.
