Three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokić continued his string of stunning performances by delivering the first 30/20/20 game in NBA history in the Denver Nuggets’ 149-141 overtime win over the Phoenix Suns on Friday night.
Jokić finished with 31 points, 21 rebounds and a season-high 22 assists. He’s a contender to win his fourth MVP award this season and entered Friday’s contest ranked third in points per game (28.8), third in rebounds per game (12.8) and second in assists per game (10.4) in the NBA this season.
When interviewed on ESPN’s “SportsCenter” about Friday’s performance, Jokić said he was more concerned about the Nuggets’ upcoming schedule than thinking about his 30/20/20 night. Denver plays the Thunder in back-to-back games in Oklahoma City on Sunday and Monday.

The Nuggets were forced into overtime as the Suns rallied from a 21-point deficit and tied the game at 125-125. Denver quickly pulled ahead in overtime, scoring 24 points as a team on 8-of-9 shooting.
With the win, the Nuggets improved to 41-22 and sit third in the Western Conference behind the Thunder and the Los Angeles Lakers. Los Angeles is the hottest team in the West and has won eight straight games.
The Suns fell to 29-34 with Friday’s loss and have been scuffling in the bottom five of the Western Conference. Phoenix also went into overtime Tuesday against the LA Clippers but managed to overcome a 23-point deficit and win, thanks to Kevin Durant’s heroics in the fourth quarter and OT.
Durant finished Friday with 29 points and nine rebounds, while Devin Booker posted a team-high 34 points.
Behind Jokić’s historic night, Denver’s Christian Braun recorded 25 points, five assists and five rebounds.
