Djokovic is looking to get back to winning ways in 2025, having failed to pick up a title on the ATP Tour this year.

He did however achieve a lifelong goal, as Djokovic won Olympic gold in Paris earlier this year, beating Carlos Alcaraz in the final.

Another man to make headlines in the French capital was Andy Murray, who retired from tennis at the tournament.

Murray had hinted at becoming a coach, sometime in the future, but recent news has revealed that the future is not that far away.

News has broken that Djokovic will be coached by Murray in the lead-up to the 2025 Australian Open.

The 37-year-old will join forces with his former rival, as he looks to add to his 24 Major titles.

The Serb reacted to the news on X, with a comical line.

“He never liked retirement anyway,” he said.

Speaking ahead of the move, Djokovic said he was looking forward to the pair working together.

“I am excited to have one of my greatest rivals on the same side of the net, as my coach,” he said.

“Looking forward to the start of the season and competing in Australia alongside Andy [Murray] with whom I have shared many exceptional moments on the Australian soil.”

It’s not just Djokovic who is excited, as Murray has also expressed just how much he is looking forward to getting back into tennis.

“I’m going to be joining Novak’s team in the off season, helping him to prepare for the Australian Open,” he said.

“I’m really excited for it and looking forward to spending time on the same side of the net as Novak for a change, helping him to achieve his goals.”

The pair faced off 36 times during their career with Djokovic leading the head-to-head 25-11.

One of their biggest matches came at the 2016 ATP Finals, when Murray took down Djokovic to secure himself the number one ranking.

Djokovic will be glad that Murray is now on his side, as the pair will look to secure a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam title for the Serb at the Australian Open.

The Australian Open begins on January 12 2025.
