No. 3 Notre Dame women’s basketball has lost back-to-back games in a row in the Cayman Islands Classic Games, this to the Utah women’s basketball 78-67.
This loss comes as an even bigger shock than yesterday to No. 17 TCU after they imploded in the fourth quarter, and nearly the same thing would happen in this one as the Fighting Irish went cold in the second half as they went almost nine minutes without a field goal in the third quarter.
Utah had four players in double figures and was led in scoring by Gianna Kneepkens and Kennady McQueen, who hit multiple three-pointers that gave the Utes a major advantage in the game.
Norte Dame’s Sonia Citron led the Fighting Irish in scoring with 22 and had help from Hannah Hidalgo and Liatu King, who both chipped in with 16 points on the night, but it wouldn’t be enough to win.
With the loss, fans can expect Notre Dame to drop significantly in the rankings on Monday.
