NAU Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Kenneth Apande said the move was made after careful deliberation.

The Stallions football program finished with an overall record of six wins and 27 losses across three seasons based on their website. They competed in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
NAU officials said they remain committed to excellence in their remaining athletic programs, focusing on competition, academics, and character development.
The university thanked players, coaches, staff, and supporters of the football program, stating that the program’s legacy will continue to inspire the NAU community.
