MELBOURNE, Fla. – No. 4 South Carolina returns to action starting Sunday at the Moon Golf Invitational. The Gamecocks will be one of eight SEC teams in the field over the next three days at Suntree Country Club in the 54-hole, stroke play event.
Carolina is the top ranked team in a strong field this week that will feature 11 top-25 teams total with five of those ranked in the top-10 of the latest Clippd Top-25 Poll.
All-American Hananh Darling has the top spot in the lineup this week. She’s joined by graduate Sophia Burnett, sophomore Vairana Heck, highly touted freshman Eila Galitsky and sophomore Maylis Lamoure.
Burnett is fresh off her first career top-20 playing in the lineup as she finished T-15th at the spring opener, the Therese Hession Regional Challenge (Feb. 2-4). Lamoure returns to the lineup after competing at the Therese Hession as an individual. She had a great fall campaign for the top-five Gamecocks with four top-20 finishes that included a T-6th finish at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate (Sept. 9-11) and a T-5th finish at the Windy City Collegiate Classic (Sept. 30-Oct. 1).
Darling and Heck have started in the lineup in all five of the team’s events so far this season. Darling, a stalwart in the lineup and one of the top players in the nation over the last four seasons, has finished in the top-15 each tournament so far in 2024-25.
All-American Pauline Roussin-Bouchard won this tournament in her record-setting 2020-21 campaign. She shot 203 with opening round 63 (-9), the lowest 18-hole score in program history. She powered the Gamecocks to the team victory as well that week.
Live scoring for the event will be available via Clippd. The Gamecocks will be paired with No. 21 Auburn and host Louisville the opening 18 holes. Lamoure will be the first player off at 8 a.m. (ET) from hole one for Carolina.
