With less 50 seconds remaining and Georgia’s offense closing in on the red zone, Alabama defensive back Zabien Brown intercepted Beck’s intended pass to wideout Colbie Young in the end zone.
The interception ended the Bulldogs’ comeback efforts, resulting in a 41-34 win for Alabama.
Although the Crimson Tide had all the momentum in the first half, scoring four straight touchdowns to start the primetime affair, producing over 350 total yards and putting Tuscaloosa on Cloud Nine, Georgia gave fans a reason to grab popcorn in the second half.
The Bulldogs outscored Alabama 27-11 after the break, including three straight touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Following a forgettable first-half performance, Beck threaded the needle with 339 passing yards and three passing touchdowns. The loss snapped the program’s 42-game regular season win streak.
In a game that looked like it could be coach Kirby Smart’s worst loss to Alabama and quickly shifted to what could be the game of the year, the Crimson Tide improve to 4-0 and hand coach Kalen DeBoer his first-ranked win of the season. Georgia falls to 3-1.
