MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – You have a chance to become certified to save lives at NMU this fall.
NMU Rec Sports is an authorized provider of American Red Cross certification courses. The department is offering CPR, AED, First Aid, lifeguarding, and swimming classes to all residents every month. You’ll complete an online portion of your class at home, then join peers and instructors on campus for some in-person instruction and hands-on practice.
NMU’s Campus Recreation Assistant Director Katie Moe says the information is good for everyone to know, not just lifeguards and health care providers.
“The more individuals that feel comfortable calling 911, that are aware of how to perform CPR and compress the chest and use an AED, the better off we’re all going to be,” said Moe.
You can sign up for the classes online here.
