Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokić and Cleveland Cavaliers guard Darius Garland have been named the NBA Western and Eastern Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for the third week of the season. The NBA announced the news on social media.
The Nuggets went 4-0 this past week as Jokić averaged 29.5 points, 15.8 rebounds and 14.5 assists per game. The undefeated week improved Denver’s record to 7-3. In four wins for the Cavs, Garland averaged 25.0 points and 7.3 assists while shooting 61.7% from the field. Cleveland is the only undefeated team left standing in the NBA at 11-0.
In the West, other nominees included Los Angeles Lakers teammates LeBron James and Anthony Davis, Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards, Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving and LA Clippers guard Norman Powell.
In the East, other nominees included Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball, Detroit Pistons guard Cade Cunningham, Indiana Pacers teammates Bennedict Mathurin and Myles Turner, Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum and Orlando Magic forward Franz Wagner.
