Nicklas Backstrom is hosting a fun event on Monday, October 14, which you should absolutely consider attending.
The 2018 Stanley Cup champion will meet with fans and play mini golf at Tysons’ Perch Putt (tickets here) to help raise money for his charity, the NB19 Assist Scholarship Fund. The Super Swede set up the fund to help families in need offset the costs associated with playing travel hockey.
“It’s always great to be able to support a good cause like this,” Nicklas Backstrom said to RMNB. “First year was a success, so I’m hoping we can build this bigger and bigger and help as many kids and families as possible.”
Not only will Backstrom be in attendance, but he’s also bringing some of his famous friends too, including Ryan Zimmerman, TJ Oshie, Tom Wilson, John Carlson, Troy Brouwer, Karl Alzner, and Richard On (OAR guitarist).
The event, entitled Putts & Pucks, is set to run from 2:30 pm – 5:30 pm on Monday, and both general admission ($75) and VIP ($150) tickets are still available. The best part is that fans will get an opportunity to meet players and play a round of golf at a fun course, regardless of which ticket package they purchase.
Fans may bring items of “reasonable size to get autographed,” though “these items are your responsibility and Perch Putt nor Starr Hill are responsible for their loss or any damages.”
Fans who have further questions can view the Q/A on the event page.
Perch Putt, for those who’ve never visited, is an “eater-tainment venue with an 18-hole mini golf course, a retro bar program, and rotating lineup of local food trucks.” It’s located on the 11th-floor rooftop at Capital One Center. The address is 1805 Capital One Dr Suite 1150, Tysons, VA 22102.
Backstrom’s Putts & Pucks event comes a year after he helped create a beer, “Swede-est Assist IPA” and raised money for his charity at a launch party.
