Nick Kyrgios predicted one of three players to win the Brisbane International.
The ATP 250 event is one of premier tournaments players compete in before heading to Melbourne to play at the Australian Open.
Kyrgios made his return to professional tennis after a long injury layoff in Brisbane, and played both singles and doubles alongside Novak Djokovic.
As the tournament heads towards its conclusion on Sunday, the 29-year-old has named those he thinks will leave Brisbane with the title.
Nick Kyrgios lost his singles comeback against Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in Brisbane after just falling short in three tiebreak sets.
The Frenchman is now into the quarter-finals after beating Francis Tiafoe and his serve and heavy groundstrokes is proving a serious problem for his opponents.
Djokovic is looking strong after victories over Rinky Hijikata and Gael Monfils, while Jordan Thompson is enjoying playing on home soil and faces defending champion Grigor Dimitrov in the last eight.
It’s one of these three players Kyrgios believes will win the Brisbane International, which he mentioned via his Instagram stories after answering a fan question.
The Brisbane International was Kyrgios’ first tournament since the Stuttgart Open in June 2023.
Ahead of the Australian Open, Kyrgios played two doubles matches alongside Djokovic and his singles encounter against Perricard.
Following his absorbing 7-6 (7-2), 6-7 (7-4), 7-6 (7-3) defeat the former World number 13 provided a fitness update in which he admitted experiencing some soreness in his surgically-repaired wrist.
“I’ve got six holes in my hand and one in my arm [from surgery]; not one tennis player has ever had this surgery and come back and tried to play again,” he said on Tuesday night.
“It’s all really an experimental [process] … no real protocol of how it’s going to be or how it’s going to pull up. It’s very sore at the moment.
“I used to abuse being youthful in this sport and not doing any cool down or anything like that, so I guess it’s biting me in the arse right now.”
