Kyrgios will play doubles with Novak Djokovic at the Brisbane International, with the former having seemingly recovered from his wrist and knee problems.

The Australian is set to use the tournament as preparation for the 2025 Australian Open, which gets underway next month.

First up, however, is the World Tennis League, with Kyrgios having been practising with fellow Australian Thompson in the build-up to the event.

The former shared footage of their practice session in Abu Dhabi on his Instagram story, where Kyrgios labelled Thompson ‘world-class’.

Wimbledon finalist Kyrgios then added more footage, this time sharing an injury update with the words ‘wrist still capable’.

Thompson currently occupies 26th place in the world rankings, which is a career-high rank for the 30-year-old.

Kyrgios meanwhile once reached 13th in the world, but he will perhaps be more focused on staying fit at this moment in time as opposed to climbing the rankings.

The World Tennis League brings the Australian duo to Yas Island this week, where they are joined by several ATP and WTA stars.

Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek and Jasmine Paolini are all involved in the team event, along with Stefanos Tsitsipas, Casper Ruud and Andrey Rublev.

Already underway, the tournament involves four games per match featuring four players from two teams, consisting of men’s and women’s singles, and men’s and women’s doubles or mixed doubles.
