Lock Selection: Saints

Yes. We’re going back to the strategy of fading the New York Giants. The combination of injuries and locker room turmoil has made this team the worst in the NFL. Also, they clearly have their eyes set on the number one overall pick in the draft.

Last week was a tough one for Big Blue. They lost their best player, Dexter Lawerence, for the season with a dislocated elbow. Rookie TE Theo Johnson was also put on season-ending IR due to a foot injury. Jermaine Eluemunor, Rakeem Nunez-Roches, Jordon Riley, Bryce Ford-Wheaton, Evan Neal, Bobby Okereke, and Deonte Banks are all listed as questionable. Not too good for New York.

New Orleans isn’t exactly a world-beater, either. They seem to play harder for interim coach Darren Rizzi than for Dennis Allen. Who remembers back in Week 3, when some called the Saints the best team in the NFL after two blowout wins, outscoring opponents 91-29? I certainly do. Seven straight losses and a head coach out the door later, they are sitting in third place in the weak NFC South.

The bottom line in this one, for me, is that New Orleans is the healthier team, the better team, and the team that is trying to win games.

Bonus Picks: Buccaneers

I’m going to keep this short and sweet. If you haven’t used the Bucs this year in your Survivor League, they are a must-play this week. They are playing a Raiders team that, quite frankly, is not very good. Las Vegas just played their best game of the season. They were in striking distance of beating Kansas City when disaster ensued.

Getting off the mat after that performance will be tough for them. Now, they travel to the East Coast to play a 1:00 PM game. The Buccaneers will win and cover the spread.
