Former NFL quarterback and current FOX NFL analyst Tom Brady, who holds a five percent stake in the Las Vegas Raiders, is expected to have a heavy hand in running the Silver and Black, per Dianna Russini of The Athletic.
“New Raiders minority owner Tom Brady represents ‘excellence,’ according to Raiders majority owner Mark Davis. While Brady is busy broadcasting for Fox and may have only 10 percent equity in the Raiders, I expect his involvement in running the team to be closer to 90 percent. We already know the organization wants to lean on Brady when picking a future quarterback. One of Davis’s strengths is his openness to listening to experienced football people, and he values Brady’s understanding of what it takes to win at a high level.”
Davis certainly needs help and guidance considering his team hasn’t won a playoff game since 2002. And so now he reportedly turns Brady, a seven-time Super Bowl champion, in hopes of turning the franchise around.
While Brady will apparently have a heavy hand in the Raiders’ football operations, he’s still in year one of a 10-year, $375 million contract with Fox Sports. Naturally, that begs a conflict-of-interest question. As previously reported, Brady has some restrictions on what he can do as a broadcaster.

Despite being approved, Brady’s restrictions are…
• Not permitted to be in another team’s facility
• Not permitted to witness practice
• Not permitted to attend broadcast production meetings, either in person or virtually
• Prohibited from publicly criticizing game… https://t.co/ZLRgfgxGF6
At any rate, Brady’s ownership stake has been approved, and he’ll go forth with having a great say in the Raiders organization. There’s also the question of whether he can adequately perform two jobs at once, although Brady will presumably be freed up in the offseason when he’s not calling games.
Item No. 1 on the Raiders’ agenda this offseason will be finding a quarterback, so it makes sense that Davis will look toward the most accomplished one of all time to find a new signal-caller. It’s not entirely clear who QB1 in the draft will be, although five candidates seem to stand out in Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, Texas’ Quinn Ewers, Georgia’s Carson Beck, Miami’s Cam Ward and Alabama’s Jalen Milroe. Ward is currently QB1 on the B/R NFL Scouting Department big board.
Ultimately, it’s clear Brady will have Davis’ ear at a pivotal moment in franchise history. For now, the 2-7, last-place Raiders are riding out a lost season that will continue Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.
