NFL Overreactions Week 10
Sports Seriously’s Mackenzie Salmon breaks down the wildest games in NFL Week 10.
Sports Seriously
Several NFL teams kept impressive win streaks alive in their NFL Week 10 games on Sunday, setting the stage for big matchups on the NFL Week 11 schedule.
The most impressive streak? The Kansas City Chiefs are now 9-0 this season.
But several other teams have impressed as of late, with the Detroit Lions’ win streak at seven games, the Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills having each won five straight and the Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals each at four wins in a row (the Los Angeles Rams will go for their fourth straight victory on Monday Night Football against the Miami Dolphins).
Which teams will extend their win streaks this week?
We know that at least one team’s win streak will come to an end with the Chiefs and Bills facing off Sunday, but other win streaks could also be in jeopardy.
The Eagles play the Washington Commanders in a battle for NFC East supremacy while the Steelers battle the Baltimore Ravens in a battle for first in the AFC North.
Arizona is off this week. The Lions host the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Check out our latest ranking for every NFL team in our NFL Week 11 power rankings. Previous ranking in parentheses.
Last week: Lost to Carolina Panthers, 20-17, in OT
This week: Off
Speaking of streaks, the Giants have lost five straight, tied for the longest current losing streak in the NFL. They are 0-5 as the home team this season. They have scored an NFL-low 156 points.
Last week: Off
This week: Sunday vs Miami Dolphins
The Raiders also have a 5-game losing skid. Can they end it against the Dolphins this week? They haven’t won since Week 4 and might be last on this list with a loss in NFL Week 11.
Last week: Lost to Los Angeles Chargers, 27-17
This week: Sunday vs Minnesota Vikings
Will Levis was 18-for-23 for 175 yards and two touchdowns and the Titans still lost. Tennessee has the Vikings, Texans and Commanders up next.
Last week: Lost to Minnesota Vikings, 12-7
This week: Sunday vs Detroit Lions
The Jaguars had 143 yards in this game, the fewest in Doug Pederson’s three seasons in Jacksonville. The question is, will he get a fourth?
Last week: Off
This week: Sunday vs New Orleans Saints
Is the game against the Saints a must-win? Pretty safe to assume so with two games against the Steelers and games against the Broncos, Chiefs, and Bengals up after New Orleans.
Last week: Monday Night Football vs Los Angeles Rams (Nov. 11)
This week: Sunday vs Las Vegas Raiders
Last week: Lost to Philadelphia Eagles, 34-6
This week: Monday Night Football vs Houston Texans (Nov. 18)
Are the Cowboys still America’s Team? They have a lot of national TV games ahead with Monday Night Football this week, a Thanksgiving Day game in Week 13 and another Monday Night Football game in Week 14. Dallas has lost four straight.
Last week: Lost to Arizona Cardinals, 31-6
This week: Sunday vs Indianapolis Colts
Say what you want about Robert Saleh’s tenure in New York, but at least the Jets’ defense wasn’t this bad. Kyler Murray shredded the Jets. Of course, you also aren’t going to win scoring just six points.
Last week: Beat Atlanta Falcons, 20-17
This week: Sunday vs Cleveland Browns
The losing streak ended at seven for New Orleans and Derek Carr, and the Saints have a prime opportunity to start a win streak against the Browns.
Last week: Beat New York Giants, 20-17, in OT
This week: Off
The Panthers have won two straight, but they were against the struggling Saints and Giants. A win over the undefeated Chiefs? That would be something.
Last week: Beat Chicago Bears, 19-3
This week: Sunday vs Los Angeles Rams
The Patriots’ defense sacked Caleb Williams nine times on Sunday and gave up only one field goal. Things are looking up in New England for a team that has won two out of its past three games.
Last week: Lost to New England Patriots, 19-3
This week: Sunday vs Green Bay Packers
How bad has it gotten in Chicago? The Bears have lost three in a row, but it feels like 10. Fans were chanting to fire head coach Matt Eberflus at the end of Sunday’s loss to New England.
Last week: Lost to Buffalo Bills, 30-20
This week: Sunday vs New York Jets
The Flacco magic disappeared in this game, with three Joe Flacco passes intercepted. He also lost a fumble for the suddenly reeling Colts (three straight losses).
Last week: Lost to San Francisco 49ers, 23-20
This week: Off
The Buccaneers, who have been plagued by injuries, have now lost four straight games. Don’t count them out yet in the NFC South, however, with the Giants, Panthers and Raiders up next.
Last week: Lost to Baltimore Ravens, 35-34
This week: Sunday Night Football vs Los Angeles Chargers
We think the Bengals are better than their 4-6 record indicates. Their next two games (at Chargers, vs Steelers) could make or break the season for Cincinnati.
Last week: Off
This week: Sunday vs San Francisco 49ers
The off week wasn’t kind to Seattle in the division, with the Cardinals and 49ers getting wins. Seattle faces San Francisco once and Arizona twice in its next four games.
Last week: Lost to Kansas City Chiefs, 16-14
This week: Sunday vs Atlanta Falcons
The Broncos came so close to ending the Chiefs’ win streak but lost when their last-second field goal attempt was blocked. Still, Bo Nix and company showed a lot in the near upset.
Last week: Beat Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 23-20
This week: Sunday vs Seattle Seahawks
Christian McCaffrey is back for the 49ers, who are now above .500 on the season at 5-4. Bet they didn’t expect to be looking up at the Arizona Cardinals.
Last week: Monday Night Football vs Miami Dolphins (Nov. 11)
This week: Sunday vs New England Patriots
Last week: Lost to New Orleans Saints, 20-17
This week: Sunday vs Denver Broncos
Younghoe Koo missed three field goal attempts for the Falcons Sunday and Atlanta missed a huge opportunity to widen its lead in the NFC South.
Last week: Lost to Detroit Lions, 26-23
This week: Monday Night Football vs Dallas Cowboys (Nov. 18)
Houston couldn’t hold off the Lions, getting outscored 19-0 in the second half of their loss on Sunday Night Football in Week 11. The Texans have now lost two in a row and three of their last four games.
Last week: Beat Tennessee Titans, 27-17
This week: Sunday Night Football vs Cincinnati Bengals
The Chargers have won three straight games since their Monday Night Football loss to the Cardinals. They have allowed an NFL-best 118 points. The closest team to them in that category? The Steelers, who have allowed 146 points.
Last week: Beat New York Jets, 31-6
This week: Off
Yes, Kyler Murray was fantastic, and the four-game win streak has turned heads, but another streak deserves more talk: The Cardinals defense has not allowed a touchdown at home in three straight games. The last time Arizona allowed a touchdown at home? In Week 4 against the Commanders.
Last week: Bye week
This week: Sunday vs Chicago Bears
The off week came at a pivotal time for the Packers, who find themselves looking up at the Lions and Vikings in the competitive NFC North race.
Last week: Beat Jacksonville Jaguars, 12-7
This week: Sunday vs Tennessee Titans
The Vikings had the ball for 42:19 on Sunday, while the Jaguars had it for 17:41. They outgained the Jaguars, 402-143. How did they only win by five points? Three San Darnold INTs certainly didn’t help.
Last week: Lost to Pittsburgh Steelers, 28-27
This week: Thursday Night Football vs Philadelphia Eagles
Washington lost the NFC East lead to the Eagles with its loss to Pittsburgh (which ended a 3-game win streak), but it can get it right back in an intriguing Thursday Night Football game this week.
Last week: Beat Cincinnati Bengals, 35-34
This week: Sunday vs Pittsburgh Steelers
First place is also on the line in the AFC North this week, thanks to the Bengals not converting a two-point conversion against the Ravens.
Last week: Beat Washington Commanders, 28-27
This week: Sunday vs Baltimore Ravens
Russell Wilson can still lead a late comeback, delivering a go-ahead TD drive late against the Commanders. Can Pittsburgh extend its win streak to five games this week?
Last week: Beat Dallas Cowboys, 34-6
This week: Thursday Night Football vs Washington Commanders
The Eagles have won five straight games, the latest a throttling of the Dak Prescott-less Cowboys. Jalen Hurts is hard to stop.
Last week: Beat Indianapolis Colts, 30-20
Can the Bills get their sixth straight win on Sunday? They do host the Chiefs, and Buffalo is 4-0 at Highmark Stadium this season.
This week: Sunday vs Kansas City Chiefs
Last week: Beat Houston Texans, 26-23
This week: Sunday vs Jacksonville Jaguars
Speaking of win streaks, the Lions have now won seven games in a row after scoring 19 unanswered second-half points in the win over the Texans. Detroit is 5-0 on the road this season, joining the Chiefs as the league’s lone undefeated road teams.
Last week: Beat Denver Broncos, 16-14
This week: Sunday vs Buffalo Bills
The Chiefs have now won 15 straight games, dating back to last year (and including a Super Bowl). Their latest win was on a blocked field goal as time expired against the Broncos. The streak could be tested again against the Bills in a must-see game this week.
