The 2025 NFL conference championship games are set with winners on Sunday, Jan. 26 advancing to Super Bowl LIX Feb. 9 in New Orleans. The AFC top seed Kansas City Chiefs host No. 2 Buffalo Bills. The NFC No. 2 seed Philadelphia Eagles host the No. 6 seed Washington Commanders. Big game betting on sides, totals, moneylines and popular prop bets is driving the action at the leading online sportsbooks.
The top two teams by power ratings and Super Bowl odds were eliminated in the AFC and NFC divisional round. The Baltimore Ravens suffered another disappointing playoff defeat with QB Lamar Jackson turnovers problematic again in a 27-25 loss at Buffalo. Three turnovers, including 1 interception and 1 lost fumble by Lamar for the second straight year in a big playoff game proved costly, along with a sack inside the Bills 5-yard line, two missed 2-point conversions including the dropped pass by tight end March Andrews that would have tired the game in the closing 90 seconds.
The Detroit Lions could not overcome the devastating injuries that plagued their defense and 5 turnovers were most damaging in a 45-31 home loss to the surprising and surging Washington Commanders.
The Eagles and Chiefs advanced despite being outgained in last week’s wins, and Philadelphia and Kansas City are favored to reach the Super Bowl.

Sunday, January 26
Buffalo Bills at Kansas City Chiefs (-1.5), game total 47.5 | 3 p.m. on CBS
Washington Commanders at Philadelphia Eagles (6.5), game total 47.5 | 6:30 p.m. on FOX
The moneyline odds on the two games (team to win outright only, no spread) are Chiefs (-126) vs. Bills (+108) and Eagles (-290) vs. Commanders (+235).
Opening odds from Circa Sports and SuperBook Las Vegas made the Eagles a 5-point favorite and Chiefs a 1.5-point favorite. Both game totals opened at 48 points. But the numbers have settled and both totals are now 47.5 across the board at leading online sportsbooks and the Eagles up to a 6-point favorite with FanDuel showing Eagles -6.5. Some top online sportsbooks like BetMGM show the Chiefs -2 with -105 odds with Circa Sports, home of the most popular pro football contests Circa Million and Circa Survivor, also with the Chiefs -2.
In a rare situation, all four divisional round winners last week were out-gained by their losing opponents.
Baltimore (-1) outrushed and outpassed Buffalo for a total of 416-273. But a minus (-3) turnover differential sealed their fate as described above. Did you know that teams that were +3 or more in the turnover column this season were 32-1 ATS? Add the Bills and Commanders (Lions -5 TO differential) to the list of last week’s playoff winners and those +3 or greater turnover advantaged teams are now 34-1 ATS with only three teams losing outright.
Guess which team won and covered the spread despite 5 turnovers and a minus (-3) turnover differential? The Washington Commanders in their Week 16 home win over the Philadelphia Eagles, 36-33. The Eagles led 14-0 in the first quarter when QB Jalen Hurts left the game for good with a concussion. Philly led 27-14 at halftime and outrushed the Commanders 211-113. But Commanders QB Jayden Daniels late drive and last second touchdown for the victory was Washington’s 5th win on their final possession this season. The Eagles out-rushed the Rams last week 285-111 with 2,000-yard best-back Barkley rushing for 205 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Eagles were -6 last week before late money closed Philly a -7 point favorite in a 26-22 win with two missed extra points by the Eagles kicker. Slim margins, but another dominant game by the Eagles at the point of attack on both sides of the ball with their top-rated offensive line and No. 1 defense get them the win and betting backers their money against the Commanders.
Pick: Eagles
The Chiefs are playing in their 7th consecutive AFC Championship Game. Amazing, as only the Patriots 8-straight is better. That means it’s now 14 straight years of either Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes starting at quarterback in the AFC title game. While the Chiefs have been consistently strong, with some remarkable good fortune this season and continued horseshoe following them, the Bills have suffered some severe hard-luck losses including to the Chiefs in the recent playoff years.
But Buffalo snapped Kansas City’s 15-game winning streak this season with a 30-21 win on Nov. 17 while outrushing the Chiefs 104-78. The 31 rushing attempts to just 17 for the Chiefs was telling. Those numbers strongly favor teams to win and cover the spread each week during the NFL season (78% ATS this season for teams that run the ball 30+ times in a game). Teams that run the ball fewer than 23 times per game covered the spread just 19% of the time this season. Yet the Chiefs were able to win and cover again last week against the Texans despite being out-rushed 149-50 with KC running the ball just 22 times and outgained by the Texans 336-212 with the Chiefs offense averaging just 4.2 yards per play in victory. Per ESPN Stats and Info, the Texans were the first team to out-gain their opponent by 100 or more yards, not turn the ball over, and lose a post-season game. Previous such teams were 49-0 in the playoffs.
The Ravens were the best team in the NFL this season, at least statistically with a net +1.6 yards per play margin. But the Bills were able to survive and advance over the Ravens in cold Buffalo with turnovers proving costly again for Jackson and the Ravens, just as it did in last year’s AFC Championhip Game to the Chiefs. Kansas City is tough to bet against, especially in the playoffs with QB Mahomes and a top defense. The Chiefs have also gone 8-straight games without a turnover. They are winning despite -0.3 in yards per play and while being out-gained on the season. The Chiefs are 10-0 in games decided by 7 points or less and have won 14 straight close games dating back to last season. Still, an opinion on the Bills to break through while adding them to a Bills-Eagles teaser bet.
Pick: Buffalo
ATS Key Stats: Teams that won the rushing yards in this year’s playoffs are just 5-5 straight up (SU) and 5-5 against the spread (ATS) using closing numbers after going 8-2 SU and 8-2 ATS last year into the conference championhip games. Last year, the Bills lost to the Chiefs in the divisional round despite outrushing KC 182-146 with 39 rushing attempts and a time of possession edge of 37 minutes to 23 minutes.
Teams that had more passing yards in this year’s playoffs are 4-6 SU and 5-5 ATS, and last year went 5-5 SU and 4-6 ATS.
During the 2023 playoffs, teams that won the rushing yards went 12-0 SU and 10-2 ATS including the Chiefs’ thrilling 38-35 win over the very slightly favored Eagles in Super Bowl LVII. Both the Chiefs and Eagles are favored in the 2025 conference championship games, and those two teams have the highest-rated offensive linemen remaining in the playoffs. Fans are supporting those two teams more in watch and wager action to set up a Super Bowl rematch.
Record watch and wager action is expected again for the conference championship games following last year’s record 55.47 million viewers for the most-watched AFC title game in NFL history between the Chiefs and Ravens. The 49ers-Lions drew 56.6 million viewers on average – the fourth-most non-Super Bowl telecast in FOX network history.
2024 (2023-24 season)
