An awful game all around.
The Seattle Seahawks fell to the Green Bay Packers 30-13 on Sunday Night Football, losing in crushing fashion. By halftime, the Packers had jumped out to a 20-3 lead, and not much changed after that.
However, the cherry on top of this nightmare of a sundae came during the third quarter, when Geno Smith injured his leg on a hit from Green Bay linebacker Edgerrin Cooper. Smith did not return to the game, forcing Mike Macdonald to play Sam Howell the rest of the way.
Although Zach Charbonnet rushed for a touchdown in the fourth quarter, it was not enough to propel the Seahawks to a comeback. The Packers put the final nail in the coffin with Jordan Love’s touchdown pass to Romeo Doubs, cementing Seattle’s SNF defeat.
With the Seahawks’ loss and the Rams’ win over the 49ers, Los Angeles has jumped back in front by way of their head-to-head victory against Seattle back in Week 9. Given Smith’s injury status, the Seahawks’ playoff chances may be fading depending on how the next few games play out.
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Seahawks’ NFC West odds have dipped to +180 after being at -135 following last week’s win over the Arizona Cardinals.
If Seattle is going to win the NFC West, they will need to get back in the win column next Sunday vs. the Minnesota Vikings. The Seahawks opened as 3.5-point underdogs versus Minnesota, and that line could change pending Geno Smith’s health.
