LAUREL, Miss. (WDAM) – A special guest made an appearance at the Laurel School District Friday during its annual convocation.
National Football League offensive tackle Charles Cross was the speaker at the event.
During the event, Cross announced he was opening a $10,000 scholarship fund for Laurel High School seniors.
“(Friday), has been a great day for me, just being able to be here and back in my hometown, in the school and see everyone,” said Cross. “For me, it’s a great experience and I had a great time and I can’t wait to come back and be able to see them again.”
A 2019 graduate of Laurel High School, Cross currently plays for the Seattle Seahawks.
Cross also graduated and played football at Mississippi State University.
During Friday’s service, Laurel Mayor Johnny Magee presented Cross with the key to the city.
