The Cleveland Browns will step into the 2025 NFL offseason with a lot of questions starting with the quarterback position but not stopping there. The kicker position has been added to the pile as has offensive line after Dawand Jones’ injury limited his test run at left tackle.
With no answer as to whether Jones is the guy on the blindside, the Browns roster is bereft of other options which could lead to one being selected in the upcoming NFL draft. Cleveland is currently slotted to select with the eighth pick in the 2025 NFL draft as Week 14’s chaos didn’t benefit the team.
While a number of top-flight talents will be off the board by that point, NFL draft expert Kyle Crabbs has the Browns swooping in to select the first offensive lineman off the board in Will Campbell in his latest NFL mock draft. Crabbs notes his versatility:
Will Campbell can play guard or tackle in the NFL and the Browns appear to be headed towards having opportunities long-term at both spots. It shouldn’t take him long to crack the starting five.
Pro Comp: Peter Skoronski
Skoronski was the eleventh overall selection in the 2023. Despite playing left tackle in college, the Tennessee Titans have played Skoronski at left guard during the first two years of his career.
Campbell could follow suit in the pros but would the Browns spend their first premium pick in four years on a guard? Joel Bitonio is nearing the end of his career but may not be ready to hang them up after 2024. If Cleveland views Campbell as a guard only, OT Kelvin Banks Jr. or DE James Pearce Jr., the next two selections in Crabbs’ mock draft, would be more likely selections.
How would you feel about Campbell knowing he could be a guard and not a tackle at the NFL level? Is a top-five guard worth a top-10 selection in any NFL draft?
