Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is looking like he will be ruled out for the team’s game on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.
We don’t know much about how Lawrence injured his shoulder, or even what’s wrong with it. He was all over the place against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 9, going 16-of-31 for 169 yards and two interceptions. He had two touchdowns, but both were rushing TDs, so neither of them significantly involved his throwing shoulder.
When asked about his QB on Wednesday, head coach Doug Pederson said Lawrence was “sore” and would be limited in practice. He was also noncommittal when asked if Lawrence would be healthy enough to play against the Vikings.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Lawrence is reportedly weighing his treatment options for his shoulder, and surgery is on the table. Rapoport said on X that while there’s no surgery scheduled now, it’s one of the options Lawrence is considering.
San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said Thursday he expects the All-Pro running back to make his season debut this week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after an “awesome” performance at practice the past two days.
McCaffrey has been out all season due to Achilles tendinitis and calf tightness, with trouble first coming when he was a late scratch in Week 1. He was soon placed on injured reserve, with a hazy timetable to return to the field.
He underwent treatment from a specialist in Germany in September and didn’t return to practice until this week. This week, he has been listed as a limited participant in practice.
With McCaffrey out, the 4-4 Niners have struggled to replicate their success from last season, due to both the running back’s absence and other factors. Jordan Mason has handled the bulk of running duties, posting 685 rushing yards and three touchdowns while averaging 5.1 yards per carry (McCaffrey averaged 5.4 yards last season).
CeeDee Lamb has a banged-up shoulder following the Dallas Cowboys’ loss to the Atlanta Falcons last week. He finished the game and has been limited in practice, but he’s progressed enough where he feels confident that he will be on the field against the Eagles.
“I feel like I’ve taken a big step throughout the week in these last two or three days,” Lamb said. “But I’m good, I was out there running today, I was getting right.”
Lamb, who isn’t planning to wearing a brace of any kind, will have a new quarterback throwing to him this week. With Dak Prescott out with a hamstring injury, Cooper Rush will take over starting duties as the Cowboys look to snap a four-game losing streak.
“We’ve connected, we’ve taken a lot of reps outside of practice just talking, communicating, getting on the same page,” Lamb said. “I feel like that’s very important with the situation that’s coming up and I’m happy for him, we know what Coop can do, the confidence is still there.”
Here’s everything you need to know injury-wise for Week 10. (Players will be added as teams release their reports.)
